The city of Enumclaw is located in the eastern Puget Sound lowlands, nestled against the Cascade Foothills. It sits on the Osceola Mudflow that originated from nearby Mount Rainier 5,600 years ago. Enumclaw is the western anchor for the Chinook Scenic Byway and has a population of about 19,000 people. Attractions of interest within the city and surrounding communities include the King County Fair and the Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games, both held annually at the Enumclaw Expo Center. The Enumclaw plateau is also one of the largest thoroughbred horse breeding and boarding areas in the United States. Several resorts, wilderness areas and outdoor activities are minutes away from the city, making Enumclaw a great starting point for a weekend on the Chinook Scenic Byway.
