The Town of Naches is a small residential community with less than 1,000 residents, located in a beautiful valley at the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountain range. The Town is 12 miles west of Yakima on U.S. Highway 12. Home to the Naches Valley School District (a Blue Ribbon Award School), the town of Naches provides a quality rural lifestyle to its residents, with the added benefit of close proximity to the larger city of Yakima.
Just minutes west of town are summer and winter recreation grounds, as well as unparalleled natural scenic destinations along the White Pass Scenic Byway (Hwy 12), Chinook Pass Byway (Hwy 410) and the within the Mt. Rainier National Park. Snowskiing, river rafting, hiking, hunting, nature walks, snowmobiling, birding, fishing, boating, and many more activities are easily accessible to residents and visitors alike.
The ranger station located in Naches manages a portion of the nearby Wenatchee National Forest, providing another resource for outdoor activities. The lobby at the Ranger Station is open 24-hours a day with a wealth of information for visitors. During office hours, you can get additional information from the information officers.
Attractions within the Town include: Applewood Park, the art deco style spire at the entrance of the town, a renovated Train Depot which serves as a Visitors Center during the summer, and the Naches Trail which, when completed, will provide an 11-mile paved path to connect Naches and Yakima via the Yakima Greenway.
